Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would put her on the American child prodigy list. This was a natural trait for an Irish-born child who was surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished haven within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was the woman who raised her. She was a talented contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin as well as owned a part of the famous Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons came second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen was an athlete at heart and enjoyed playing tough sports. This passion was combined with an equally natural aptitude to perform. It was evident by her receiving nearly every Feis award for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. In her 14th year, she was accepted into at the Abbey Theater to follow her dreams in classical theatre and operatic vocals.
